Inger Ashing is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Save the Children International. A respected child rights activist, she set up her own youth organisation at the age of 12, working against racism and violence at county level. She has been associated with Save the Children for more than 25 years, first serving as a youth advocate and later on the Boards of Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children International. Prior to her appointment in September 2019, Inger held various national and international roles focused on children’s right, most recently as the Director General at the Swedish Agency against Segregation.
Clare worked for UNICEF in Geneva where she helped develop UNICEF's Global Income Growth Strategy and led a global change management program to realign resources in UNICEF's Private Fundraising & Partnerships Division.
Prior to this, Clare led UNHCR's Private Sector Fundraising Service in Geneva for 5 years, leading the development of its first strategic global growth plan and delivering against ambitious growth objectives. Prior to moving to the UN Clare held various marketing roles within the private sector in the technology and pharmaceuticals sectors both in Canada and Europe. Clare has a Masters in International Relations from York University in Canada.
Clare holds joint Canadian and British citizenship, is married with one child and is based in Toronto, spending a week every 6 to 8 weeks at Save the Children International Offices in London.
David Wright is Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer for Save the Children International. Previously David was Regional Director for West and Central Africa. Before this, he was the Regional Director for East and Southern Africa from 2014 to late 2018. He has worked with Save the Children in senior leadership roles since 2006 when he became Darfur Director and led the largest INGO program in that volatile region.
Ebrima Saidy is Chief Impact Officer for Save the Children International and is leading Save the Children’s Global 2022-2024 strategic goals for and with children. Ebrima has over 15 years experience in quality evidence based child rights programing, emergencies and youth development. Previous roles include; Regional Program Quality, Evidence and Impact Director in Asia (2018-2022) and Deputy Country Director and Program Development & Quality Director with the SC Somalia Country Office. Ebrima is an Angel Investor in Young Black Entrepreneurs and he is widely published.
Michael Koutstaal is Chief Transformation Officer at Save the Children International, responsible for Information Technology, Project & Change Management, Business Architecture and Portfolio Management. For Save the Children Association he is Executive Lead for the High Performing Organisation – a portfolio of largescale global transformation projects aimed at strengthening our foundations, including Finance, IT, HR and Awards to Operations Support, Supply Chain and Capability Building.
A native of the Netherlands, Michael holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and has studied courses in designing Social Transfer Programs at United Nations University in Changmai and Global Poverty and Inclusive Development at the University of Amsterdam. He volunteers his spare time as a Member of the Advisory Council for SOS Children Villages Netherlands, providing a range of consultancy services.
Sam Sharpe is the Chief Financial Officer for SCI. Sam joined SCI in 2020. From 2014 to 2020 be was Chief Financial Officer at Save the Children UK. Before joining Save the Children he worked for the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID).
Clare Canning is General Counsel of Save The Children International; formerly a litigation partner at Mayer Brown and Global General Counsel at EY. She is a qualified psychotherapist and business coach. When in private practise she specialised in the financial services sector – insurance, reinsurance the defence of professional defendants – most notably in the Equitable Life and Northern Rock litigation.
Kate joins us as Chief People Officer at Save the Children International, responsible for defining and implementing an ambitious People and Culture Strategy for our organisation.
With more than seven years as a Chief People Officer and over twenty years' experience across Financial Services, Healthcare, Property and Retail sectors, Kate is a seasoned board director and senior leader in private, listed and third sector companies. She brings extensive international leadership experience across UK, Europe, Asia, Latin America, The Middle East, and North America. Since 2017, Kate has also been a Trustee on the Board of 'Parks for London' – a charity committed to promoting accessible quality green space as a major contribution to a healthier and more sustainable city. Kate lives on the island of Guernsey with her husband Andy and her two children, Rosy and Sam.
Kate joins SCI as Chief People Officer as of April 2023.
Rotimy joins us as Executive Director of Global Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns (GPAC) for Save the Children International. The GPAC Director role is critical to delivering our 2022-2024 global strategy, which explicitly recognises and emphasizes the significance of advocacy and campaigning as key enablers in delivering impact at scale for children. Rotimy will be responsible for ensuring that our advocacy and campaigns efforts are strategic, aligned with the four global goals and help drive one consistent voice across Save the Children.
Rotimy has extensive experience in leadership roles in the humanitarian and development sector, having previously served at senior levels with CARE International and Plan International, where he has been part of the Executive Team for the past six years. He is a thought leader in executive coaching, and has significant experience leading strategy, policy, advocacy and campaigns initiatives across levels.
Rotimy is a Beninese national currently based in Dakar, Senegal. He joins us as GPAC Executive Director as of May 2023, Anita Bay will continue to act in an interim role until then.
