Yvonne Arunga, Country Director Kenya & Madagascar

Yvonne joined Save the Children in 2011 to support the devastating food crisis in the Horn of Africa. In 2012, she joined the SCI Regional Office and since then worked in multiple roles within the movement with most current role as Country Director for Save the Children in Kenya and Madagascar. She is passionate about work that promotes the rights of children and other marginalised groups and is a keen advocate for promoting the localisation agenda within the movement.

Brechtje Van Lith, Country Director Mozambique

Brechtje van Lith joined Save the Children in 2016 as Country Director in Uganda. Since August 2021 she leads the Mozambique Country Office. Brechtje holds a Master Degree in Public Administration and an Advanced Masters in International Development. She is a passionate advocate for children’s rights and has worked with multiple child-centred organizations over the last 20 years as a program manager and country director in South Africa, Tanzania, Eritrea, Colombia, Sierra Leone, Dominican Republic, Uganda and Mozambique.

Tamta Golubiani, Country Director Georgia

Tamari (Tamta) Golubiani joined Save the Children Georgia Office in 2010 and worked in different senior management roles before selected as a Country Director in 2016.
Prior to joining SC, she worked on child protection and education issues in NGOs, UNICEF and the government of Georgia. She is especially proud of her years spent in decision-making position of the government where she initiated fundamental Child Welfare reforms in Georgia.

Amavi Akpamagbo, Country Director Democratic Republic of Congo

Amavi offers over 30 years’ experience with international organisations in the development and humanitarian sectors. He joined Save the Children in Dec 2018 as Country Director for Mali before moving to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2021. Before Save the Children, Amavi worked with Plan International where he held different positions from frontline to leadership roles in different countries (Togo, Liberia, Senegal and Guinea) and at regional level. Roles included Country Director, Regional Finance Director, Deputy Regional Director, Interim Regional Director for West & Central Africa as well as Regional Change Project Director where he successfully led Plan International’s first-ever merger with BØRNEfonden (Danish INGO).

Akebou Sawadogo, Country Director Cote d'Ivoire

After working initially in the private sector and then in the development and humanitarian industry with few organisations like MSF, SNV, ACF and GOAL, Akébou joined Save the Children in 2011 as Field Manager in Niger. Since then he worked in various roles at Save the Children, including 7 years as Director of Programme Operations in Nige and DR Congo, before taking the CD role in Cote d'Ivoire in September 2020. Cote d’Ivoire has an annual portfolio of nearly $ 40m and delivers programmes in health, nutrition, child protection, education, child poverty reduction, child right governance. In 2022, we reached 1 800 000 people with 66% of children.

Jennifer Moorehead, Country Director Lebanon

Jen Moorehead is currently the Country Director for Save the Children in Lebanon.  She arrived in-country shortly after the Beirut Blast in August 2020, and is managing, together with the Save the Children team, the response to the consequences of a failing state and a failed economy.  She is married to a Palestinian refugee human rights activist, and has two university-age daughters. 

Luke Ebbs, Country Director Lao People's Democratic Republic

Luke first joined Save the Children as the Director of Support Services for the PNG country office before being promoted to Deputy Country Director for Program Implementation, including a spell as Acting Country Director. During this time, Luke made a major contribution to the growth of the PNG Country Office and in driving operational and program quality improvements. In early 2019, Luke was promoted to Country Director for Vanuatu, where he has led the Country Office through unprecedented levels of growth and change. This includes leading a major shift in the operating model, forging strategic relationships to progress the movement’s first Green Climate Fund project and nationalising key leadership roles. Luke spent 8 months as Acting Pacific Regional Director overseeing strategy development and operations across PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Tonga, before moving on to his new role as Country Director for Laos in January 2023.

Patrick Analo, Country Director Sierra Leone

Country Director of Save the Children in Sierra Leone since January 2022. Patrick has over 25 years of international experience in senior management positions in humanitarian and development contexts in corporate and non-profit organizations. Patrick joined Save the Children in 2014 and has since held senior leadership positions; in Yemen, Rwanda and South Sudan as Deputy Country Director prior to taking up the CD role in Sierra Leone. Patrick has led humanitarian response teams in Yemen, South Sudan, Sudan/Darfur, Sri-Lanka, Somalia, Rwanda and Kenya. His focus has been on providing strategic leadership, portfolio growth, quality program delivery, team performance and development. Prior to joining Save the Children, Patrick worked in the development sector, corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the mining Industry in Ghana and Ethiopia, as a Project Director for Newmont Mining Corporation.

Sonia Khush, Country Director Ukraine

Sonia Khush is Save the Children’s Country Director for Ukraine, based in Kyiv since July 2022. She manages a complex program across Ukraine delivered by 300+ staff through multiple field offices, including in non-government held areas, and by dozens of local partners. Prior to joining the Ukraine CO, Sonia was the Syria Response Director. Sonia has a BA from Tufts University and a Masters from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Xavier Joubert, Country Director Ethiopia

Xavier moved into the Ethiopia Country Director role in January 2022 after being respectively SCI CD in Yemen, Deputy Regional Director and Regional Humanitarian Director in WCA and CD in Niger. More than a decade working with SCI which built his assets and convictions to fight for children’s rights, inequality and discrimination. Xavier is a committed, enthusiastic, professional, open-minded yet decisive person who likes to deliver thorough high-quality work and who is passionate about his work since he started his itinerary three decades ago in the desert of Niger as a volunteer. Xavier graduated in public health and humanitarian program management.

Famari Barro, Country Director Nigeria

Famari has over 30 years of professional experience in development and emergency program management. He served in several countries in West & Central Africa as well as in the Caribbean and North America. He has worked with Plan International including Deputy Regional Director for operations in West & Central Africa. He has been Country Coordinator in Guinea Bissau, Country Director in Niger and Cameroon, Director of Support Services in Haiti, Director of Operations in Burkina Faso, Ghana and Togo providing leadership and technical expertise to complex, multi-million dollar, programs focused on health, education, advocacy, child protection, food security, WASH, etc.
Famari worked as Country Director in Cote d’Ivoire. In 2020 he joined Catholic Relief Service in Guinea Bissau as Chief of Party for a McGovern Dole FFE Project. Famari holds a master’s in economics sciences from the University of Ouagadougou. He is and fluent in French, English and Portuguese.

Julian Jeyaraj Chellappah, Country Director Sri Lanka

Country Director at Save the Children in Sri Lanka, and has been for the past 5 years. Joined Save the Children over 20 years ago, dedicating life to the wellbeing of children in Sri Lanka. Over the past three decades, has led major humanitarian responses for the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the civil conflict in Sri Lanka, and internationally, has led the response for the conflict in Afghanistan for 2 years. Back in Sri Lanka, steered and led the entire Save the Children country office to achieve remarkable accomplishments in its core thematic areas of child protection, education, livelihood, and furthermore, steering the country office to prepare for the ongoing humanitarian crisis.  Today, through my leadership, Save the Children has transformed to a recognized and leading humanitarian response organization, side by side transition SC’s knowledge and expertise to local strategic partners within 3-4y timeframe.

Benoit Delsarte, Country Director Burkina Faso

Over the past 27 years, Benoit has been working in both humanitarian challenging environments and development contexts. He joined Save the Children UK as HST Team leader in 2012 with deployments in Niger, Mali, RCA, Lebanon, Vanuatu, Croatia then moved to SCI early 2018 as Director of programs Operations in Mali followed by his current position in Burkina Faso since May 2021. Before Save the Children, Benoit worked with Action against Hunger, Oxfam GB, International Medical corps in different countries in Middle East, Asia and East Africa at various positions from Logistics coordinator at the start of his career in the 90’s to head of HQ logistics, Regional Operation Manager for East Africa then country director in Somalia, Kenya and Chad before joining SCUK.

Alessandro Tuzza, Country Director Brazil

Alessandro is a senior leader with over 22 years’ experience leading complex humanitarian and development programs in the regions of Asia, East/West Africa, and LAC.
During the last three years he has been responsible for launching Save the Children humanitarian response in Venezuela and leading the transformation from response office to Country Office. From 2005 to 2019, as Senior Program Manager with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) he coordinated the organization’s humanitarian response in more than 20 countries. Throughout his career, Alessandro has demonstrated expertise in setting up programs in new contexts with innovative methodologies and effective leadership.
Since February 2023, Alessandro is SC Brazil's new CD.

Chantal-Sylvie Imbeault, Country Director Haiti

Chantal-Sylvie Imbeault joined SCI July 2022. She has worked in international humanitarian and development organisations since 1988 in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Carribean. She served as Haïti Country representative for the American Red Cross from 2012 – 2022. From 2004 to 2012, she was Deputy Executive Director of the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) where she was responsible for the organization’s overseas operations and corporate services. Prior to that she past 10 years in Ivory Coast working with agriculture cooperatives.

Originally from the Gaspé Coast in Québec, she travelled in more than 30 countries for short or long term humanitarian work, accumulating over 30 years of experience in various leadership positions.. She has an MBA from McGill University, a Diploma in Management from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France and a B.A. Honours from Carleton University in Ottawa.

Joanne Musonda, Country Director Zambia

Jo Musonda joined Save the Children as the Country Director for Zambia in September 2019. Jo brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm and over 30 years ’experience in Public Health and 20 years of international development experience in Zambia to the role. She provides overall leadership to country office which implements nearly two thirds of its portfolio through local partners and represents Save the Children to all stakeholders. With a technical background in HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health, she is passionate about children’s rights and reproductive health rights and sexual violence against women and children and is a strong advocate for working with stigmatized and marginalized groups.

Duncan Harvey, Country Director Myanmar

Duncan Harvey has worked with Save the Children for 22 years in a variety of programme leadership posts in 7 countries: Sudan, Tanzania, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Kenya/Madagascar, Zambia and Myanmar. He has been the Myanmar Country Director since July 2019.

Sasha Ekanayake, Country Director Turkey

Sasha is an experienced humanitarian professional with over 24 years of working for both the private and non-profit sectors in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. At present, Sasha is leading the EQ response with his team in Turkiye and all the investments over the last 3 years to build up the profile of Save the Children, investing in CO talents and growing his team and  relationships with government stakeholders have been instrumental in Save the Children being a leading actor in the EQ response to date. 

Reaksmey Hong, Cambodian Country Director

Reaksmey is the first Cambodian Country Director of SCI in Cambodia. He was the Country Director of ActionAid Cambodia in 2020-2022. Reaksmey was the Chair of the Board of NGO Education Partnership (NEP), and member of the Management Committee (Board) of the NGO Forum on Cambodia, and a former Chair of the Executive Committee (Board) of the Corporation Committee of Cambodia. Prior to ActionAid, he worked for the Australian Embassy/DFAT, KHANA, World Vision Australia, and Church World Service Cambodia.

He holds a master's in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University in Australia. He also has an educational background in development management, law, and computer science.

Rama Hansraj, Country Director Yemen

Rama Hansraj, Country Director Yemen
She joined Save the Children in South Sudan as Country Director on 1st May 2019 and moved to Yemen in February 2022 in the same role.

She brings with her more than twenty years of international development and large humanitarian response experience, having worked across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She has worked as a Country Director for more than 7 years in high-risk operational environments such as Yemen and South Sudan.
Rama possesses a Master’s Degree in Human Rights from University of London as well as a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from University of Hyderabad, India.
Rama wants to create a just world and be the change she wants to see.

Pornpun Jib Rabiltossaporn, Country Director South Sudan

Pornpun Jib Rabiltossaporn has joined Save the Children in July 2022 as Country Director for South Sudan Country Office. Jib has been working in the humanitarian and development sector in various regions including Asia, Middle East, and Southern Africa with multiple deployments in different countries. In prior to taking up this post, Jib worked with CARE in Yemen and in Afghanistan. Jib is not new to Save the Children as she previously was with Iraq and Bangladesh Country Offices in 2016-2018.

Jib has a Master in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge University and believes in the concept of lifelong learning and growing as a team.

Emilie Fernandes, Country Director Senegal

Emilie Fernandes is currently the Country Director of SCI in Senegal. She has been working for Save the Children for almost 5 years: 4 years as CD in Burkina Faso and now CD in Senegal. She has around 18 years of work experience in humanitarian and development. She started her career as a consultant in Vanuatu, spent almost 10 years in the Democratic Republic of Congo from program manager to Country Director and Director of the DRC INGO Forum. She continued as CD in Burkina Faso for 4 years for SCI, then left SCI to go to the Philippines less than 2 years for Relief International before joining SCI back in WCA, in Senegal last year. She has a Master’s degree in Development and Agronomy. She likes playing with her two kids, swimming and cooking desserts.

Neevna Milutinovic, Country Director NorthWest Balkan

Nevena has a long record of working in the MEEE region in both and in particular with our North West Balkans team. Nevena’s educational background is in social policy, migration and child protection, and she holds Master in Political Analysis and Management from the University of Belgrade and graduated Humanitarian Leadership Program at Deakin University.

Muhammad Khuram Gondal, Country Director of Pakistan

Muhammad Khuram Gondal, has a diversified professional experience spanning to almost eighteen (18) years working with Save the Children International, and other reputable organizations. Currently, he is performing duties as the Country Director, Save the Children in Pakistan.

Prior to Khuram’s experience in Save the Children as the Country Director, he had taken on several leading roles across the globe.

Khuram has a Master’s in Business Management and Advanced Certification in Emergencies. He worked in Countries with disasters and complex emergencies/conflicts such as; Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Jordan and in Pakistan, during the high-magnitude Earthquake in 2005 and 2022 Floods.

Heather Campbell, Country Director of Nepal & Bhutan

Heather has over 20 years of experience with the development and humanitarian sector in a variety of leadership posts in: Pakistan, China, Afghanistan, East Timor, Horn of Africa, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Nepal and Bhutan.  Heather joined Save the Children in 2019 as the Country Director for Sierra Leone and joined the Nepal and Bhutan Country Office in January 2022.

Rasha Muhrez, Syria Response Director

Rasha Muhrez is a professional humanitarian with over 16 years in senior and leadership roles with International NGOs. Rasha has spent most of her career working in Africa and the Middle East in complex emergencies and countries in transition. Including, Syria, Yemen, Niger, Sudan and South Sudan. In December she joined Save the Children as Syria Response Director to lead one of the world’s most complex humanitarian operations.
Rasha holds a BSc in Economics from Damascus University, an MBA from Université Paris-Dauphine and an MBA for Executives from the Higher Institute of Business Administration in Damascus. She is passionate to the work she is doing with Save the children and committed to be the voice for those who are most vulnerable and deprived of their rights.

Dragana Strinic, Country Director Uganda

Dragana has been with Save the Children for over twenty years. With technical background in education, she has worked in a range of technical, program development and quality, operational and leadership roles. Since September 2021, Dragana has been a Country Director in Uganda, leading our programming in development, humanitarian and nexus settings. Prior to working with Save the Children, Dragana worked with refugees and displaced persons with Norwegian Refugee Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has a passion for children’s rights, child and youth participation and localization.

Sarra Ghazi, Country Director of Iraq

Sarra has extensive experience in the education & child development sector including promotion of sector reforms and the improvement of learning environment & outcomes.  She is committed to serving those in need in order to actively contribute to building a world with equal opportunities and rights for all.  Her previous roles in Jordan include Country Director for International Rescue Committee, Country Director for Turquoise Mountain, Consultant for World Refugees School and CEO for Princess Alia Foundation.

Bujar Hoxha, Response Director Save the Children Poland

Bujar is a senior leader with over 24 years' experience leading multi-faceted humanitarian and development programs in the regions of Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Prior to working with the Save the Children, he also served for CARE International, USAID Contractor, Chemonics, etc.  He has expertise in the area of humanitarian response, institutional development, strategic planning-positioning, and local solutions/partnerships.

Le Thi Thanh Huong, Country Director Vietnam

With dynamic leadership in the international business and development sector with a rich mix of 25 years of experience in Country Management, Program Operation, Finance, HR, organizational development, Supply Chain, risk management, legal compliance, partnership management, portfolio development, grant management and internal/external process improvement, I have worked for Save the Children since 2007, starting as a national staff member with Save the Children US in a number of increasingly senior roles in driving organizational changes, strategic initiatives to realize bottom line results and enhance organization performance.
Having a strong leadership competency for developing high performing teams and focusing on obtaining results through trainings, coaching and mentoring and solid experience in agency representation, both strategic and operational, in adherence with policies and procedures in country operations including Partnership and emergency responses.

Ashebir Debebe, Country Director Malawi

Ashebir is Country Director of SCI in Malawi. Before SC's transition to SCI he served as program director, deputy and country director for Save the Children Denmark and as deputy country director for SCI transition phase in Ethiopia and Somalia. Thereafter he had served as deputy country director (PDQ) in Somalia and Ethiopia COs. He has over 28 years dedicated service in Save the Children.

Bayan-Altari Luvsandorj, Country Director Mongolia

Bayan has been working as the Country Manager in Mongolia since 2019. He is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the organization's activities in Mongolia, and managing and leading the local team of 50. Other key areas of his responsibilities include development and implementation of projects in the areas of child protection, education, poverty and child rights governance. An important part of his work is to build and strengthen partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, NGOs and the private sector.

Bayan started his career working as a Program Officer at Mercy Corps, an US non-profit organization, later serving there as the Director of Gobi Initiative, a large USAID-funded economic development program in Mongolia.  He run the Business Advisory Program at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, targeting SMEs in Mongolia. In addition, he worked  as Business Advisor at City of Toronto, implementing various programs supporting small businesses. He has held senior management positions in private companies such as Oyu Tolgoi/Rio Tinto and Max Group, where he led and implemented many successful business projects. He provided advisory services and organized training for leading national and international companies on organizational strategy, HR management and leadership development.

He graduated from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology with a degree in information technology and management and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Leeds, UK. He also studied economic development at Michigan State University in the United States.

Maggie Korde, Country Director Rwanda & Burundi

Maggie Korde is the Country Director for Rwanda and Burundi. She lives in Kigali, Rwanda with her husband and two children. Two years ago she also set up Kumwe Hub, an innovative finance and impact investment arm focussing on businesses that have an impact on children, families or youth in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Before moving to Rwanda, Maggie worked in programming and operations for 20 years in various child focused organisations across Brazil, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Moldova, Kenya, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, India, Ecuador, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. She currently sits on two boards and is a qualified leadership coach.
In her spare time she likes cuddling her children and doing hot yoga. But not at the same time.

Angela Kauleni, Country Director Tazania

Angela is a development and humanitarian professional with over 20 years of experience in development and humanitarian sectors having worked in some of the most challenging contexts i.e. in conflict and hunger affected communities, cyclones, flooding responses, Refugees responses, disease outbreaks and other humanitarian crises in Sudan, South Sudan and Mozambique. Angela’s professional experience includes more than 16 years work as a senior staff for US government for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where she led innovative approaches for strengthening health systems. Before joining CDC, she worked with US Peace Corps under the education program.
Angela is a professional educator, an environmental scientist and a public health specialist who holds a MSc degree in Environmental Science, an MA degree in Education, Health Promotion and International Development, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She is a health enthusiast and enjoys music, cooking and reading books

Mark Pierce, Country Director Middle Income Countries Unit Asia

Mark Pierce has been working in senior leadership roles in the international humanitarian and development sector for over 30 years. He currently is the Director of the Middle-Income Country Unit covering Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and China. Prior to that from 2016-2020, Mark was the Country Director for SCI in Bangladesh.

 

Mark has also worked for Plan International and Catholic Relief Services where he has served for over 10 years as the Asia Regional Director for both organizations based in Bangkok, and, has served as Country Director in Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines/Thailand/Myanmar[cluster] and Egypt. Mark’s technical specialty is in microfinance and was a board member of several MFIs in Asia. He was the founder and Board Chair of Thaneakea Phum Cambodia, now renamed as LOLC Cambodia. One of the largest MFIs in Cambodia.

 

Bhekimpilo Khanye, Acting Country Director Zimbabwe

Bheki Khanye is the Interim Country Director for SCI in Zimbabwe. He has been with the organisation for two and half years and initially served as Head Of Operations. Bheki is passionate about child sensitive localisation and repositioning the Country Office to be a fit for purpose organisation that is relevant to the needs of children in a changing funding and operational landscape. He has more than 30 years of humanitarian and development experience of which 10 years were in senior leadership positions including Integrated Programs Director for World Vision Zimbabwe and South Africa for 7 years and Interim Country Director for World Vision South Africa during its transition to localisation.

Maria Paula Martinez, Executive Director Colombia

Maria Paula Martinez has been the Executive Director for Save the Children Colombia since April 2016. Her academic qualifications include being a lawyer from the Universidad de los Andes, Master’s in international Humanitarian Law, Human Rights and Peacebuilding Initiatives, from the Robert Schuman University (Strasbourg), the Universidad Externado de Colombia and the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. She worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross, on the Canadian Embassy in Colombia and is currently Executive Director of the Save the Children Colombia Foundation.

Mary McInerney, Country Director Guatemala

Mary McInerney is currently the CD and CEO of the Guatemala Prospect Member.  Mary has worked to improve the well-being and to ensure equitable rights for all children and families in Latin America for well over two decades.  She has worked for over 20 years as CD in Guatemala and Nicaragua, as well as the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) for SCUS. Mary has a Master's Degree in Epidemiology from Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Rocio Rodriguez, Country Director El Salvador

Rocío Rodríguez is a native of El Salvador, has a 22-year career with Save the Children, and is currently Country Director in El Salvador.  She holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations with an emphasis in international development from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, USA, and a Master's Degree in International Economics and International Relations from Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC.  Her strengths include ensuring synergies amongst teams, results-based management, problem solving, and effective communication.  She is a trained coach, skills she uses to support the potential and effectiveness of the multidisciplinary team she leads. Rocío is committed to continuous improvement and promotes taking advantage of each lesson learned to grow and guide future actions.

Veronica Valdivieso, Country Director Peru

Veronica joined Save the Children in early 2021 as the Country Director for Peru. With a background in public health and law, she has previously worked with USAID, WHO, and UNAIDS, as well as with Pro Mujer, as an aide to a U.S. Senator, and in the private sector. She will soon be taking on a new role as the Head of Hunger, Livelihoods, and Climate with SCUS.

Jason Lee, Country Director of Occupied Palestinian Territory

Prior to joining Save the Children (SC) office in the occupied Palestinian territory, Jason was the Deputy Country Director / Director of Programme Operations for Save the Children Yemen Country Office from September 2017. He was responsible forprovidingthe overall strategic direction, oversight and management of the implementation of SC Yemen’s Country Programme, including the humanitarian response.   

From 2014 – 2017, Jason was the Health Advisor for UNDP Sierra Leone, where he developed UNDPs Ebola response and subsequent early recovery programme. Before joining the Global Ebola Response, Jason was based in Afghanistan from 2013-2014 as the Chief Technical Advisor for UNDP’s public administration and capacity building programme. Additionally, from 2012-2013 he supported UNDP Country Offices in a regional role at the Asia Pacific Regional Office focused on knowledge management, innovation and capacity development.    

Prior to joining the UN, Jason worked in Timor-Leste in an advisory capacityto the Ministry of Health on the Global Fund HIV Programme to support the establishment of the behavioral and sentinel surveillance systems. He has worked in various humanitarian and development contexts, including Papua New Guinea on AusAID funded programmes, and as the principle investigator for WHO on a regional HIV initiative in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.   

As an Australian national, Jason continues to support the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as a health and early recovery specialist through its surge mechanism. He has a Masters in International Public Health from the University of Sydney.  

Ilaria Manunza, Country Director Niger

Over the past 20 years, Ilaria has been working in both humanitarian and development contexts in very challenging Ilaria Manunza contexts.

Country Director Ilaria joined Save the Children during the famine in Somalia, in 2011, holding the positions of sr. Emergency manager, Deputy PDQ Director and PDQ Director, Deputy Team Leader - Programmes mainly across Africa (Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire) and in the Nepal earthquake response. Prior to joining SCI, Ilaria has held various positions with ACTED, NRC, and the Italian Aid, where she was in charge of programme and strategy development, country management, external representation and coordination across Kosovo, DR Congo, Kenya, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, Burundi, and Pakistan. Since 1st Dec 2021, Ilaria is working as Country Director in Niger CO.

Ilaria holds a degree in Political Sciences at Univerità degli Studi di Siena, Italy, and a MS Agr in Humanitarian Assistance from UCD, Ireland, along with various professional trainings including the CHS Quality Assurance Verification for humanitarian organisations.

Ilaria in fluent in both French and English.

Marianela Montesdeoca, Country Director Bolivia

Country Director of Bolivia office since April 2019. Started in SCI as Program´s Director in 2017. Masters in science in HR for development - Manchester University. Worked in development cooperation for more than 25 years, including the UK DFID, US Embassy in Bolivia, Melting Pot Foundation, CESO-SACO Canadian NGO, Canadian Cooperation, JICA and UNODC.
Former LAC representative - CD Dialogue Calls and current LAC rep for DEI steering group. Committed to work for children to improve their quality of life in a context filled with violence.
Eager to grow portfolio of Bolivia CO to reach more children in vulnerability, meeting members and having the opportunity to engage with them will broaden up opportunities for development, humanitarian and Nexus projects in Bolivia.
Married for 30 years, proud mother of a 24-year-old boy and 2 German Shepards. Love to read, walk and listen to music.

Shannon Ward, Country Director Liberia

Shannon currently serves as Country Director for Liberia.  Prior to this, Shannon was the Director for Program Development & Quality for Save the Children in Nigeria. She has over twenty-five years of experience with NGOs/ associations and the United Nations World Food Program, working in both development and humanitarian settings.  Shannon has served in Nigeria, Tanzania, Liberia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, and Slovakia with brief stints in Brazil and Ethiopia. Her experience includes the coordination and management of active development and humanitarian programs, oversight of business development activities, staff management, providing strategic guidance, and troubleshooting.  Shannon has significant experience in representation, program design, program quality, program management and donor outreach. In addition to serving overseas, Shannon has worked on projects in over twenty countries, predominantly in Sub-Saharan Africa, but also in Asia and Central America. She holds an M.A. from the George Washington University in Internal Policy and Practice, and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, in Political Science.
